Townsville is located on the North Eastern cost of Queensland,
1500km north of Queensland’s capital city, Brisbane.
Townsville is only 10 hours flying time
from Tokyo and four hours from New Caledonia, making it one of
the closest mainland Australian cities to Asia and the Pacific.
Townsville is located on one of
Australia’s most fascinating regions, surrounded by spectacular
World Heritage-listed rainforests, the Australian Outback, and
the Great Barrier Reef. Nowhere else in Australia can you find
so many diverse land formations and seascapes, in such a small
and accessible area.
Townsville’s location in Queensland’s dry tropics
means the region enjoys the benefits of a tropical climate without
the accompanying drawbacks.
The city has a relatively mild, sunny climate with only moderate
seasonal changes in conditions. The highest temperatures are recorded
between December and March (an average of 28 degrees and accompanied
by high rainfall) while the coolest month is July (with an average
of 19 degrees).
